Progress

Waymark on Walk 1

The Poole Harbour Trails Community Group was formed to look into ways of making a National Trail around Poole Harbour happen.

Our thanks are due to Purbeck District Council and Poole Borough Council who gave us grants to prepare leaflets of six linear walks that are possible now.

See our Walks Page where there are downloadable leaflets describing six walks around Poole Harbour. They are also being distributed from a variety of venues including tourist information offices.

These walks are all linear ones of around 7 or 8 miles in length, each starting and ending at a bus stop. All but one of them also meet bus routes on the way and so could be cut to shorter walks for those who prefer walks of 3 or 4 miles.

We have also placed a number of circular walks here, shorter walks off the main route that reach some particular view point.

There are also parts of the circuit that can be cycled.

Waymarks

Our six linear walks are way marked at significant points. The circular walks are not way marked yet.

The Future

For our preferred Walk 5, there is a short distance that will need a new public right of way before it can be traversed and then a bridge! A claim to make the required path a public right of way is now with Dorset County Council.

Look for up to date activity on Poole Harbour Trails on Facebook.
